Partnerships

FCAR is a non-profit organization that operates on a product development partnership (PDP) model. The Foundation builds partnerships between public, private, academic and philanthropic sectors to facilitate the development of new products for a global unmet medical need. Since PDPs are collaborative partnerships, they are able to apply a wide range of tools and knowledge to their programs and therefore access a diversity of funding sources. Laboratory and clinical studies are usually done externally. However, PDPs maintain direct management supervision of their projects.

Currently there are over 140 projects in PDP portfolios globally. These include new technologies to fight TB, AIDS, malaria and other neglected diseases. PDPs are established for public benefit and the products are made affordable for all who need them.

As a PDP, FCAR is distinguished by the ability to promote collaborations that are traditionally not possible. FCAR is a neutral third party solely focused on the mission for new and effective antimicrobials for resistant organisms. We are able to bring parties together and leverage efforts for the common goal regardless of interest.
